A Special Thanks to the Muskogee Art Guild and Monica Brown. The Art
Guild held a silent auction of artwork to benefit PAWS. A unique
painting by Don “Chico” Jones worth $500 was donated as a raffle prize.
They also gave away free books to the children attending Animal Fest.
They also had a ball toss game and gave away unique hand-painted dog and
cat magnets as prizes.
We really appreciate the presence of Larissa Efird from Animal Chatter.
Hopefully the lines of communication were opened between a few pets and
their owners!
Also, many thanks to Jeff Leake (Honkey Da Clown) who delighted many at
Animal Fest with his balloon animal creations.

Tips
For Making Your New Pet Feel Welcome
All new pets don't come into your home and feel like they’ve been there
forever. It may take 2 to 3 months for them to really feel comfortable.
Don't rush them. Have patience.
Good nutrition and socialization are about the best thing you can do for
them. Give them time to get adjusted and learn your rules and schedule.
Try to put yourself in their place and think how you would feel after
being dumped and shoved from place to place. It would be hard for anyone
to know where they belong. They will know that they are where they
belong if you give them plenty of interaction, exercise and lots of
one-on-one with love and affection.

Did
You NOSE? Cat Ownership Is PURRIFIC for Your Health!
Cat owners are 40% less likely to die of a heart attack then non cat
owners. One rationale; interacting with cats reduces anxiety and stress.
Plus, cats need less time and care than dogs. (But pets in general--even
fish--are associated with better health in owners.)

Share these LIVER TREATS with your healthy buddy & celebrate good health!
1 lb Chicken Livers
2 Tablespoons Molasses or any syrup
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Cups Cornmeal 2 Large cloves
garlic
Combine all wet ingredients first in a food processor, then add rest of
ingredients, blend until uniform in color. Pour into baking pan and bake at
400 F degrees, until it pulls from the sides or a knife comes out clean. Cut
into bite size pieces. Store in the refrigerator.

We'll Meet You at Rainbow Bridge, In Loving Memory
of Our Beloved Best Friends
"...You have been spotted, and
when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in
joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon
your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but
never absent from your heart."
Morgan le Fay: Our condolences to
Donne Nel and Jim Green who lost their beloved dog Morgan le Fay, a Jack
Russell Terrier. “She was my sweetheart,” Donne Nel said of Morgan.

Ellen Mayer Wrote the Following Beautiful Tribute to her Pets Tom-Tom
and Sidney
Tom -Tom came into my life in 1992
when he was a tiny kitten just 5 weeks old. My daughter was driving on a
busy four lane highway in Oklahoma City when she saw what looked like an
old shoe. However, when she got closer, she realized it was a tiny
kitten rolled up in a ball in the middle of the pavement. She slowed
down scooped him up and brought him to me. He was always so spirited and
full of life. He simply could not discipline himself to stay out of
trouble and I am convinced that he actually acted out in an effort to be
noticed. However, I viewed it as part of his charm.
Sidney came to me in 1995 when he was probably six months old. He
wandered up to my door with a terrible wound caused by a rubber flea
collar that was around his neck and had slipped down under one of his
front legs. He was starving and dehydrated. I live trapped him and took
him to the emergency animal hospital. Two surgeries were required to
close the horrible wound under his leg where the buckle had cut down to
the tendon. From that moment on, he and I were inseparable for the
remainder of his beautiful life.
They were such mild mannered, affectionate, sweet animals. They loved
each other so much and when Sidney passed away last summer from
pancreatic cancer, Tom-Tom showed visible signs of grief that lasted
until his death this summer from the ravages of old age and a number of
other health problems.
I have so many wonderful memories of them and the joy they brought into
my life in the 16 and 19 years they were a part of my family. It was
such a difficult decision to say my final "goodbyes"... not a day goes
by that I don't think of them and the tears still flow. I loved them
enough to let them go. However, they will always have a special place in
my heart.

Embrace
Your Green PAW - Thank You to the Community for Your Continued Support
Our Green PAW program
has been very successful and we are so grateful for the community's
support!
We appreciate all the people who bring their aluminum beverage cans
(pop, beer, energy drinks) to PAWS so we can recycle them for cash.
Why not try setting up a plastic bin at your
workplace or business? Ask your co-workers to bring in
their cans too. PAWS would love to keep cleaning up our community while
also earning some much needed proceeds for our shelter.
